Note:
This app version is intended for Unified Security Exposure Management (USEM), a significant architectural upgrade to the Vulnerability Response applications.
If you are currently using Vulnerability Response and upgrading to USEM for the first time, you must use the Migration assistant for Unified Security Exposure Management to ensure a safe and successful upgrade. For full details, please refer to the KB2556844 and documentation before proceeding.
If you do not intend to upgrade to USEM, please select a version below 30.x when installing or upgrading.
Unified Security Exposure Management (USEM) is ServiceNow’s next-generation platform that unifies vulnerabilities, misconfigurations and other exposures across infrastructure, applications, containers, and cloud resources into a single, consistent architecture. USEM delivers a modernized Security Exposure Management Workspace, standardized data models, modularized remediation workflows, and a richer, role-based user experience for analysts, remediation owners, admins, and service owners.
With USEM, organizations gain consolidated visibility, improved prioritization, and faster remediation through unified persona views, enhanced analytics, and streamlined configuration capabilities. USEM brings stronger alignment across all exposure types for consistent orchestration and remediation.
- Security Exposure Management Workspace: A modern, role-based workspace for analysts, remediation owners, admins, and approvers
- Modular Architecture: Standardised rules, tasks, scoring, and workflows across all exposure types for easier configuration and maintenance.
- Reusable, configurable dashboards and widgets that support filtering, grouping, and drill-downs across all exposure data.
- Enhanced Remediation Experience: Single view of remediation tasks, findings and assets for faster and more consistent triage.
- Admin Console: Centralised configuration for lookup rules, exception management, assignments, risk scoring and integration monitoring.

Fixed
- Non-admin users are now correctly directed to the Security Exposure Management Workspace instead of the Migration Assistant during an active migration.
- No Requirements
Notes for Migration Assistant for USEM:
- Only configurations/rules are migrated; exposure data (VITs, AVITs, CVITs, Test Results) remain unchanged
- Manual store upgrades not required
- ServiceNow strongly recommends using the Migration Assistant for proper sequencing and risk reduction
- Enables seamless transition to USEM's unified workspace with minimal disruption.
