The ServiceNow UI Components for Customer Portals application improves the Service Portal experience for customer service portals. It provides a collection of configurable components that make it easier to reuse, perform, and upgrade. These new components can replace your existing portal widgets in the customer portals.
UI Components for Customer Portals contains the following Service Portal components:
- Portal Polaris Header: Display a two-level header that showcases key features and links that can be accessed from any page of your portal. The first level includes search, profile, and other options, while the second level consists of menu items. This widget is part of the Portal Next Experience Theme store app.
- Portal Polaris Footer - Display contact information, social media links and other common links at the bottom of the page. This widget is part of the Portal Next Experience Theme store app.
- Mega Menu - Display a hierarchical menu to allow navigation to different pages.
- Banner - Display announcements about new products, feature highlights, and important information at the top of the page.
- Banner Carousel - Display multiple announcements/features/products as a carousel.
- FAQs - Displays list of FAQs from selected Knowledge table.
- Data List - Display a list of cases, orders, appointments or any other record from a ServiceNow table in list and card format along with the capability to search and filter content.
- Quick Links - Display important links for Knowledge articles, catalog item, custom page or external URL in card format.
- Knowledge Quick Links - Display the most relevant Knowledge articles based on criteria such as featured, most viewed and most popular.
- Catalog Quick Links - Display relevant Catalog items based on filter criteria.
- Case Cards - Display the latest updates on open cases with respect to a user.
- Browse Taxonomy - Display a hierarchical taxonomy of topics to allow navigation to different Knowledge articles and Catalog items.
- Portal Object - Displays the key information and related actions of the selected record from tables such as product, household, or any other on a card.
- Taxonomy Topics - Displays first-level taxonomy topics as cards for users to select and navigate to related articles and catalog items.
New
- Role‑Based and Guest Views: Use the new role_based_views and guest_view options to define different views for different user roles and for unauthenticated users. This removes the dependency on a single static view.
- Automatic URL Parameter Passing: URL parameters are now automatically passed into scripts invoked from Data List instance options, allowing admins to build richer, multi‑parameter conditions without extra setup.
- Script‑Based View Selection: Use the Data List Condition Script option to choose a view dynamically. Scripts can evaluate URL parameters and other context to determine the most appropriate view at runtime.
- Configurable Default Sorting: Define initial sorting behavior using the new sort_by and sort_order options so users see a meaningful default order when the list loads.
